The second Turkish trip led to the Czech Repuplic. It was held 14th – 22nd April 2013. Turkish group of four teachers (Miss. Ayse Pinar Karauzum, Mr. Zeynel Yetim, Mr. Ozcan Oz, Mrs. Nihal Nizamoglu) and their six students brought true spring weather to the Czech Republic, because Czech winter had been very long and finished just one week before Turkish visit initiation…

Turkish team came to Olomouc by train from Prague on Sunday, 14th April 2013 at 15:50. Following script was very similar to Bulgarian, because after very long journey Turkish students as well as their teachers were very tired and needed well-deserved relax. That´s the reason why immediately after arrival Turkish students were introduced and passed on hosting families and their teachers were transported to Gloria hotel for short organizational meeting with Czech coordinator Mr. Jiri Marvan and his colleague Mrs. Hana Vyroubalova. After this meeting Turkish teachers checked in their hotel and after that went together with Mr. Jiri Marvan for dinner to the highest Olomouc´ high-rise building with beautiful view of whole Olomouc city.

Monday´s (15th April) programme started at Primary School Gorkeho at 8.00 a.m. Its headmaster Mr. Vladislav Tesarik and his deputy Mrs. Marie Mazacova guided Turkish friends through whole the school and answered Turkish friends´ questions for school system in the Czech Republic as well as history or the way of managing this institution. After a short break Mr. Jiri Marvan presented all participants Czech history, the most famous Czech celebrities of all times and Olomouc history on interactive whiteboard. In the afternoon there were organized cultural performances. Czech pupils presented traditional Czech dances „Polka“ and „country“, sang several Czech national songs and the other ones played the flutes. On the other hand Turkish students introduced their national dances „Harmandali“ and „Damat Halayi“ and in a few minutes many of spectators jointed them and started to learn it together. After common dancing lesson Turkish students visited after school centre and tried to make ceramic elephants and painted abstract pictures by hot wax crayons spreaded on irons. This art technique is called „encaustic“.

On Tuesday (16th April) morning Comenius participants including all Turkish teachers took part in Olomouc schools´ bowling tournament. It was an amazing experience and fun and the winner´s name is not always important… In the afternoon there was organized English guided town hall excursion, city tour – we visited St. Wenceslas Cathedral as well as Church of St. Michael and saw many historical buildings of The Palacky University of Olomouc. After this excursion most of participants made use of attractive shopping in the centre of the city.

On Wednesday (17th April) morning Primary school Gorkeho managed a big surprise not only for Turkish guests. Famous Czech drum band „Juming Drums“ performed in the gym of the school. Some of students had an unique opportunity to joint the band and play with professional musicians. After the concert members of „Jumping Drums“ gave their signatures to everyone and sold their cds, drum sticks and posters for symbolic prices. In the afternoon Mr. Jiri Marvan organized friendly sport matches. Turkish students tried to play new games „floorball“ and „ringo“ together with their Czech friends and moreover international basketball and football matches were played too. Three out of Turkish teachers took part in some sport activities too. After this long day several participants including all Turkish teachers visited ZOO in Olomouc to relax and recharge their personal power.

On Thursday (18th April) it was organized all-day trip to open-air museum in town Roznov pod Radhostem. Several extra registered Czech pupils took part in this interesting trip too. English speaking guide explained not only history of this open-air museum, but also described how difficult lives people had in the mountains in last centuries. All participants could enter into several of wooden buildings and see old furniture, tools, toys, dishes and other things of everyday use. At the end of this trip whole international group was photographed in front of picturesque windmill on the top of the highest hill.

On Friday (19th April) it was a cooking day. Turkish and Czech friends prepared their typical national dishes and after that they took part in common lunch. Turkish group prepared eggplants filled-in mixture of minced beef meat and vegetables while Czech group prepared chicken fillets and potatoe salad. Moreover, both groups served delicious kinds of sweet cakes too. In the afternoon it was time for relax and packaging, because official programme was going to be closed at Gloria hotel in the evening. Before it Turkish teachers went to the centre of the city again and visited Sigma Olomouc Stadium and fans shop. In the evening both headmasters evaluated whole successful visit and Czech headmaster Mr. Vladislav Tesarik handed all participants their certificates. After that common traditional Czech dinner officially closed whole visit.

Saturday (20th April) was the day of departure, but all participants visited The Olomouc Archdiocesan Museum in the morning. Turkish group departed from main train station at 15:10 p.m. and most of Czech participants including all parents came to say our great Turkish friends „good-bye“. The only one exception was Czech coordinator Mr. Jiri Marvan who travelled with Turkish team to Prague to be their guide there. Our friends visited some of fascinating Prague´s sights and places such as the Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, Lesser Quarter and many others on Sunday, 21st April. Their plane took off Vaclav Havel Prague Airport 22nd April 2013 in the evening.
